This statement captures part of the nature of coaching, the only addition is that the coach will travel with you to challenge, stimulate and guide you and help keep you on your path.

Therapy is mainly for more complex issues that arise from trauma, abuse and childhood experiences that may hold people back from progress, and in some cases must be addressed. Coaching is quite different, and to put it simply – coaching looks forward rather than back into your personal history. It aims at making constructive changes to the current situation, and consequently improving future ones.
